DescriptionThe SCD-40 utilizes Direct Virtual Memory Access (DVMA) to achievetransfer rates to/from memory up to 40 MBytes per second. The userinterface is synchronous, that is all data and control signals aresampled with a clock transmitted along with the data and control signals.The clock may be generated by the DMA interface or the user device orboth. All signals are differential using AT&T 41 Series specifications(positive ECL). The user interface flow control protocol is implementedin a RAM based programmable gate array. The SCD-40 includes a versatile,straightforward protocol but optional customer-specific protocols may bedeveloped.SoftwareThe SCD-40 comes with device driver with example programs. The driverprovides access to the SCD-40 through standard and asychronous read andwrite system call. Continuous transfers are inplemented with asyschronousI/O. The SCD-40 is provided with minimal FCode PROM for identificationonly. User FCode PROMS may be developed for specific applications.
